Research focus: Supply Chain Network Design
Dr. Chad W. Autry is the William J. Taylor Professor of Supply Chain Management, and Department Head of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Autry’s research focuses on collaborative and socially responsible supply chain relationships. He is author of over 70 articles in academic and professional outlets including the Journal of Business Logistics, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Strategic Management Journal. He is also a co-author or contributor to three recent books published by Pearson/Financial Times Press that focus on current and future supply chain management practice.
Dr. Autry’s professional background includes several years experience in retail and restaurant operations management, and he has worked with and for numerous professional, civic, and governmental organizations related to supply chain process improvement, including Anheuser-Busch, American Airlines, Boise Corporation, Con-Agra, IBM, Hallmark, Pearson Publishing, Goodwill Industries, the American Red Cross, and multiple branches of the U.S. Department of Defense including the U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Army Materiel Command. He has served on the SCPro Certification Development Committee and Education Strategies Committee of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the national Board of Directors of the Warehouse Education and Research Council (WERC). Additionally, he has taken active roles at local and national levels for the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), Institute for Supply Management (ISM), and National Association of Purchasing Managers (NAPM).
Dr. Autry is the former Editor in Chief of the Journal of Supply Chain Management and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Logistics, Decision Sciences Journal, and Logistique’ Management, in addition to serving on the editorial boards of several other academic and managerial publications.
