Research focus: International Logistics and Transportation
Gary N. Dicer is Professor Emeritus of Logistics & Transportation, Department of Marketing, Logistics and Transportation at The University of Tennessee. His research interest is in the area of global supply chains, international logistics and defense logistics. Dr. Dicer has written extensively on these topics and others in more than 90 books, journal articles, conference papers and technical reports. He devoted significant service to professional associations, most notably having President and a member of the board of the Business Association of Latin American Studies. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the American Society for Competitiveness Advances in Competitiveness Research, and the International Quarterly Journal of Marketing. During his thirty year tenure at UT, he served as Chair of the Department of Marketing, Logistics & Transportation, Director of the University Transportation Research Center, and Associate Dean for Graduate Business Programs. Dr. Dicer has directed numerous research projects, including work for the U.S. Department of Defense, The Ports of New York, Los Angeles, and South Carolina, The U.S. Department of Transportation, the Army Corps of Engineers, and various agencies of the State of Tennessee. His work in humanitarian and food relief includes projects with CARE, the US Agency for International Development and the World Bank. He has traveled, lectured, and worked extensively throughout the world, including a Fulbright award in Brazil. Dr. Dicer is a former ship’s officer and graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
